Passive Voice
The passive voice is used frequently in business English. It is often used when we do not know who did something, or when it is not important. For example: 'The contract was signed last week.' We do not need to say who signed it. Passive is also common in formal writing: 'Meetings are held every Monday.' 'The budget was approved by the board.' 'New procedures will be introduced next quarter.' When you read business reports or emails, you will see the passive voice everywhere. It sounds professional and objective.
๐ก Did you know? Scientific papers almost always use passive voice. 'The experiment was conducted' sounds more objective than 'We conducted the experiment' โ which is exactly what scientists want.
