We use going to to talk about plans and intentions — things we have already decided to do. For example: I am going to apply for a new job. She is going to launch a new product next month. We are going to have a meeting on Friday.

The structure is: subject + am/is/are + going to + infinitive.

For negatives: I am not going to apply. He is not going to retire yet.

For questions: Are you going to apply? Is she going to be in the meeting?

We also use going to for predictions based on what we can see right now: Look at those clouds — it is going to rain. He looks exhausted — he is going to make a mistake.
