Spain has many different climates. In the north, it is green and rainy — similar to northern Europe. The summers are mild and the winters are cold. In the centre, including Madrid, summers are extremely hot and dry. Temperatures can reach 40 degrees in July. Winters are cold and sometimes snowy. In the south, the climate is Mediterranean — hot dry summers and mild winters with little rain. The coast has warm summers and very mild winters. Most visitors prefer spring and autumn — the weather is mild, the cities are not crowded, and everything feels more relaxed and enjoyable.
💡 Did you know? Spain has more sunshine hours than any other country in the European Union. Some parts of Almeria, in the south, receive over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year — nearly double the European average.
